British Open - U23 Champion and 2nd Overall

My last training session on the Lee Valley course took place on Friday afternoon. My arms were burning from fatigue and a hard week but I was still buzzing off the course and stoked to have had the opportunity to paddle here for two weeks.

The course is amazing and I felt I knew it really well by the end. I put my boat on the car and cruised up to Nottingham to race the British Open. I didn’t know how it would roll as I was super tired from a full on week of training and hadn’t paddled on the course before the race. It turned out okay, I finished fourth in qualification, progressing through to the semifinal. I had a bad semis run and qualified through to the final in 9th equal. Upping my game, I paddled clean and 4seconds faster to finish 1st U23 and 2nd overall behind current world champion Corinna Kuhnle, British paddler Laura Blakeman in 3rd. It was a good result and a great way to round off two weeks of great training. AirNZ flight tomorrow and I am looking forward to getting back to the homeland. Peace.
